Consideration to renew annual supply contract FY24-005 to the following bidders:
1) CMC Commercial Metals, Laredo, Texas, for an annual amount of up to
$300,000.00 (Primary Vendor) and;
2) Beaver's Source LLC, Laredo Texas, for an annual amount of up to $100,000.00
(Secondary Vendor).
This contract establishes pricing for the purchase of construction materials such as
lumber, tools for concrete/construction, steel, rebar wire and mesh needed for repairs
and construction projects. All materials will be purchased on an as-needed basis. The
term of this contract shall be for a period of one year and is contingent upon the
availability of appropriated funds. This is the first of two, one year extension periods. Funding is available in the Public Works Department General Fund.

BACKGROUND
The City received two bids through Cit-E-Bid for awarding a contract for the
purchase of various construction related materials such as lumber, tools for
concrete/construction, steel, rebar wire and mesh. All materials will be purchased on
an as needed basis for the Public Works Department. As per all supply contracts, the
intent of this contract is to secure a fixed cost for this commodity for the contract
period. Staff is recommending that CMC Commercials be awarded primary vendor
and that Beaver's Source be awarded secondary vendor for this contract. The term of this contract shall be for a period of one year and is contingent upon the availability of appropriated funds. This is the first of two, one year extension periods.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The purpose of this contract is to establish prices for the commodities or services
needed, should the City need to purchase these commodities or services. The
City's obligation for performance of an annual supply contract beyond the current
fiscal year is contingent upon the availability of appropriated funds from which
payments for the contract purchases can be made. If no funds are appropriated
and budgeted during the next fiscal year, this contract becomes null and void.
Funds for the purchase of these materials are available in the Public Works
construction material and supply line items budget
