Summary of alignment: This resolution aligns strongly with the Viva Laredo Comprehensive Plan by supporting the continued provision of foundational public health services in Laredo. The OPHP - RLSS/LPHS Grant funds critical activities such as outbreak control, preventive screening, lab diagnostics, surveillance, and workforce development-all of which are core infrastructure components necessary to ensure effective and equitable public health delivery.

On February 21, 2023, Council approved Resolution 2023-R-060.

 

BACKGROUND

The Texas Department of State Health Services continues to contract with the City of Laredo through the OPHP - RLSS/LPHS Grant to provide support in clinical services, preventive screening, laboratory support, outbreak control, workforce training, public education, data surveillance, and program evaluation; with a focus in supporting communities with little or poor health care services, and underserved populations.
