A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas, authorizing the City Manager to accept and enter into a continuation contract from the Texas Department of State Health Services, OPHP- Regional and Local Services System/Local Public Health Services (RLSS/LPHS) Grant in the amount of $248,536.00 per year for a total amount of $497,072.00, with no match for the City of Laredo Public Health Department for the (2) two-year term period from September 01, 2025 through August 31, 2027. Funds will be accounted for in the Laredo Public Health Department Fund - OPHP- RLSS/LPHS Grant.

The OPHP - RLSS/LPHS Grant funds critical activities such as outbreak control, preventive screening, lab diagnostics, surveillance, and workforce development-all of which are core infrastructure components necessary to ensure effective and equitable public health delivery.

BACKGROUND
The Texas Department of State Health Services continues to contract with the City of Laredo through the OPHP - RLSS/LPHS Grant to provide support in clinical services, preventive screening, laboratory support, outbreak control, workforce training, public education, data surveillance, and program evaluation; with a focus in supporting communities with little or poor health care services, and underserved populations.
