BACKGROUND
The City of Laredo Public Health Department’s mission is to provide high quality care for individuals in need and to assist the underserved and vulnerable population. All patients who qualify for financial assistance through the City of Laredo Health Department’s Charity Care Program will not incur charges for medically necessary care during the timeframe for which their assistance is granted. Financial circumstance should not present a barrier for those seeking or receiving health services. This policy is inclusive of the following clinics under the City of Laredo Public Health Department. • STD/HIV Clinic • Tuberculosis Clinic • Health Education Clinic (Chronic disease screening) Charity care will be based on individual determination of financial need, and shall not consider age, gender, race, social or immigrant status, sexual orientation or religious affiliation.
