Summary of alignment: The ratification of additional funding under the Title X - Part A Family Planning and Women’s Preventive Health Services program aligns strongly with key health goals and policies of the Viva Laredo Comprehensive Plan. Specifically, this funding supports the City of Laredo Public Health Department’s ability to deliver preventive health services such as family planning, routine screenings (e.g., breast exams, pap smears), prenatal and postpartum care, health education, and laboratory services to women across the community, especially underserved populations. The range of services supported under this contract, particularly maternal health and wellness exams, directly contributes to enhancing access to essential women's health services.

On August 19, 2024, Council approved Resolution 2024-R-267.

 

BACKGROUND

The City of Laredo Public Health Department continues to contract with Every Body Texas for the continuation of the Title X Family Planning and Women’s Health Program. Through this agreement, the health department is able to provide family planning and women’s preventive wellness services to include counseling and health education, women’s health wellness and preventive health care services (breast exams, mammography’s, pap smears, annual check-ups), birth control, prenatal, post-partum and intrapartum care, laboratory and diagnostic services needed for quality women’s health care in accordance to Title X screening and eligibility guidelines.
