An ordinance authorizing the City Manager to accept the Texas Library Association Summer at the Library Grant, in the estimated total amount of $2,500.00 per six (6) month term, from May 2, 2026, through October 30, 2026, with no match for the City of Laredo Public Library Department; and to amend the General Fund budget by appropriating revenues and expenditures in the amount of $2,500.00; and further authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents resulting from the award of this grant. Any funding as a result of this application will be appropriated in the Laredo Public Library Department - General Fund.

BACKGROUND
Through this award, the City of Laredo Public Libraries will be able to focus on extending educational opportunities that teach media and information literacy through the lens of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The initiative emphasizes the importance of thinking critically about AI in order to use it effectively, understanding where information comes from, who is reporting this information and key information literacy skills.
