An Ordinance authorizing the City Manager to accept and enter into a contract from the Alzheimer’s Association for the 2026 Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) Road Map Strategists Program Grant, amending the FY2025-2026 budget by appropriating revenues and expenditures in the amount of $50,000.00, with no match for the City of Laredo Public Health Department, for the term January 01, 2026 through September 30, 2026. Funds will be accounted for in the Laredo Public Health Department Fund - 2026 Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) Road Map Strategists Program Grant.

BACKGROUND
The Alzheimer’s Association contracts with the City of Laredo Public Health Department for the 2026 Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) Road Map Strategists Program Grant. Through this award the City of Laredo Public Health Department will build internal capacity and subject matter expertise on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia from a life-course perspective, including understanding related social and structural determinants of health and assess local needs and strengths related to dementia, as well as educate public health staff and provide local leadership in prioritizing, implementing, and coordinating actions from the HBI State and Local Road Map for Public Health.
