BACKGROUND
The City of Laredo Public Health Department is continuing its contract with the Health and Human Services Commission for the continuation of the Primary Health Care Grant Program. Through this agreement, the Public Health Department will provide preventive and acute patient care and early detection screening patient care services for the uninsured, underserved and medically indigent of Laredo. Through the Primary Health Care Program “La Familia” the Public Health Department provides comprehensive health services targeted at the family unit, including immunizations, diagnosis, and treatment, early detection, family planning, health education, diagnostic tests, and intensive case management for the family at risk of acute and chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease).
