VIVA LAREDO PLAN ALIGNMENT

Supporting goal(s)/policy(ies):

                     Goal 1: Improve access to health care services for all residents.

                     Policy 1.1: Support and promote preventive health care services.

                     Policy 1.2: Increase access to care for low-income, uninsured, and underinsured individuals.

                     Goal 2: Promote health equity and reduce health disparities.

                     Policy 2.1: Expand access to culturally competent and linguistically appropriate services.

                     Goal 3: Educate the public on health and wellness.

                     Policy 3.1: Implement educational initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles and preventive care.

Summary of alignment:

The continuation of the Family Planning Program (FPP) Grant aligns strongly with the Viva Laredo Comprehensive Plan's health priorities. The program enables the Laredo Public Health Department to provide essential women’s preventive health services, including reproductive education, counseling, screenings, and family planning. These services directly support the plan’s emphasis on preventive care, equitable access, and community health education. The inclusion of both fee-for-service and cost reimbursement models ensures financial sustainability while improving care availability to underserved populations-particularly women of reproductive age in Laredo.
