PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
On January 16, 2024, City Council approved to award construction contract FY24-ENG-04 to the lowest responsible, responsive bidder ALC Construction Co., Inc., Laredo, Texas, in an amount not to exceed $140,295.00 for the Winfield Parkway Speed Tables - District VI project which includes the total alternate bid #1 plus a $10,000.00 contingency allowance. The construction contract time for the project is 60 working days. Funding is available in the 2019 and 2022 CO Bond - District VI Priority Fund.
BACKGROUND
Sealed bids were received at City Secretary’s Office, 1110 Houston Street, 3rd floor, City Hall Building, Laredo, Texas, or electronically through Cit-E-Bid until 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 and publicly opened, read, and taken under advisement on Friday December 15, 2023 at 9:00 A.M. for the furnishing of all necessary materials, machinery, equipment, labor, superintendence, and all other services and appurtenances required for FY24-ENG-04 “Winfield Parkway Drive Speed Tables - District VI” for the City of Laredo, and shall include acknowledgement of any addenda submitted, and all other documents included in said bid call. Said bid shall be marked, FY24-ENG-04 “Winfield Parkway Speed Tables - District VI”.
This project consists of constructing concrete speed tables of varying width at Winfield Parkway in accordance with AASHTO and the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways.
Construction contract time for the project is (60) working days.
Based on our evaluation of the bids, the City of Laredo Engineering Department recommends that this project be awarded to ALC Construction Co., Inc with that bid being determined the lowest responsible, responsive bidder of the two submitted for our consideration in the amount not to exceed $140,295.00 which includes the total alternate bid #1 plus a $10,000.00 contingency allowance.
