BACKGROUND

Authorization is requested to purchase 100 less-lethal deployment devices (tasers) to replace the current outdated devices.  Axon Enterprise, Inc., headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona is the manufacturer of the Axon Taser 10 and all related products, and they are not available from another manufacturing source.  The purchase of these devices will be done utilizing the Sourcewell Contract #101223-AXN.

Research has proven that the recent advances in less-lethal technology offer a more effective control over resistive suspects with fewer serious injuries.  Through extensive research and customer feedback, Axon has developed the most capable and sophisticated TASER energy weapon to date.  The new capabilities significantly increase accuracy and effectiveness, decreasing the likelihood of escalation to lethal force.
