PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
On July 21, 2025, City Council approved to reject sole bid received for FY23-ENG-34 City of Laredo Boulevard of the Americas Phase 2 Rebid Project, and authorization to rebid the project as the bid received is above estimated budgeted amount.
BACKGROUND
The City of Laredo Boulevard of the Americas Phase II project consists of the construction of two public plazas: Plaza Azteca (700 Hidalgo St.) and Plaza La Noria (700 Farragut St.), to be constructed under a single contract. Work includes, but is not limited to, site demolition, earthwork, utilities, concrete and unit paver surfaces, landscaping and irrigation systems, site lighting, and installation of site furnishings. Plaza Azteca includes construction of a concession building, two unisex restroom facilities, mechanical room, storage areas, stage, and associated utility connections, as well as shade structures, monument features, and a refuse enclosure. Plaza La Noria includes similar site improvements excluding enclosed buildings. Construction contract time is 550 working days.
A total of four (4) electronic bids were received at City Secretary’s office on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. which were publicly opened, read and taken advertisement on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 10:00 A.M.
