BACKGROUND

The City of Laredo Land Development Code Section 24.63.2, entitled “Permitted Land Uses,” does not currently identify flammable and explosive products as a distinct use classification. The absence of this specification has led to confusion regarding the permissibility of such uses. To address this issue, the proposed amendment clarifies that the use of flammable and explosive products is permitted in M-2 (Heavy Manufacturing District) zoning districts and permitted in M-1 (Light Manufacturing District) zoning districts through the issuance of a Special Use Permit (SUP).
