Authorizing the City Manager to submit a grant application to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Expanding the National Approach to Chronic Disease Education and Awareness Grant in the estimated amount of $325,000.00, with no match for the City of Laredo Public Health Department for the term period from September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2025 with up to two, one-year renewals through August 31, 2027, for a total grant award of up to $975,000.00, and further authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents resulting from the award of this grant. Any funding as a result of this application will be appropriated in the Expanding the National Approach to Chronic Disease Education and Awareness Grant - Public Health Department fund.

BACKGROUND
The City of Laredo Public Health Department wishes to apply for the funding opportunity by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to be considered for funding through the Expanding the National Approach to Chronic Disease Education and Awareness grant. Through this award, Laredo Public Health Department will expand and advance the focus on education, outreach, and public awareness activities of chronic disease and will address implementation strategies and activities that strengthen the science base for prevention, education, and public health awareness that could lead to meaningful improvements in patient outcomes of chronic disease.
