BACKGROUND
If granted, the First Responders-Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act grant will be used to provide resources for the Opioid Response Project which will combine prevention, treatment, and recovery support strategies with a primary focus on reducing overdose fatalities in our community. Key points that the Opioid Response Project will include will be Narcan Distribution. First responders will carry and distribute naloxone (Narcan), an opioid antagonist medication that can reverse an opioid overdose. By carrying and distributing this medication, the team can potentially save the lives of individuals experiencing an overdose by giving this medication by reaching out to patients who have overdosed within 24-48 hours that involved 911.
