Treviño, and Council recognize the inaugural Firefighter Leadership Certificate Cohort for successfully graduating through a partnership between the Laredo Fire Department and Laredo College. The inaugural cohort completed the Level I Leadership Certificate, consisting of 16 college credit hours over a two-month period from June 3 through August 3. The program included five college-level courses designed to strengthen leadership skills and promote professional development. This certificate also serves as a pathway to Laredo College's Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership, allowing firefighters to continue their education while preparing for future leadership roles within the department.
